At our dr. appointment today we were informed that my blood pressure has remained high despite the bed rest I've been on. Despite my reluctance about inductions, one may be imminent. According to the doctor (who is normally a great advocate of non medically-induced labor), with twins, sometimes there is greater risk of something going wrong by keeping them in than just taking them before major complications arise. As she explained it, babies develop much quicker under stress, and the fact that there are 2 babies is definitely a stressor. So, both babies are surely fully developed, and we have done well to make it past 37 weeks! I am now at least dilated to somewhere between 2-3, so we have progress, and contractions have definitely gotten stronger. Come babies, come!
Just try to enjoy the last few moments you have with the babies inside. I know how it gets toward the end when you just can't wait to see their little face. Once separated, you will miss these final moments.. or at least I did. It's good you are getting rest. I was a mad nester up till the end and did laundry all day the day before I went into labor. Boy.. would've like to have changed that decision. I'm praying for you and the babies. Steve too. Thanks for posting the blog site.

Thinking of you!! Hope all goes smoothly! Can't wait to see pictures of your beautiful babies.
ReplyDeleteKathy said that when she was waiting for Calvin who was a substancial amount of time late, she had a long chat with him and labour started shortly thereafter. We are praying that you can avoid an induction as well, but you know what, they don't last forever ( although at the time they seem like they do) and at the end, you take a look at them and say, that was sooo worth it!
ReplyDeleteAm soo looking forward to seeing pictures and hearing all about it.
praying for a safe, healthy labor and birth. you will do great!
ReplyDeleteYahoooooo!!! 2-3 cm is good - better than zero, that's for sure. It will probably happen soon. I am so so so excited for you guys, and I'm glad that is sounds like they are going to try to let you do it vaginally. So many doctors nowadays say c-section no matter what when it comes to twins, which I think sucks. I will be keeping you and your babies in my prayers - good luck!
